Worship with Us

Every week the rhythm of our life is punctuated by communal worship. When Gloria Dei worships, we are fed with the Word of God and the body and blood of Christ, and then sent to continue our worship in our individual lives.

You are welcome to join with us in our life of worshiping Christ.

Grow in Faith

Christian Education @ GDLC

Grow deeper in your relationship with God and our following of Christ. Gloria Dei provides structured opportunities for that kind of growth, both for young people and for adults.

From Sunday School and beyond, you are invited to grow in your faith with us.

Sacraments

Lutheran Christians recognize two actions that are sacramental:

Holy Baptism
We believe that baptism is for all, regardless of age, gender, race, or sexual orientation.

Holy Communion
You do not need to be a member of this church, nor do you even need to be Lutheran to receive this gift. We simply prefer that you are a baptized Christian.

Preaching

The preachers of Gloria Dei are committed to the study of Scripture and how the stories of the Bible inform our lives.

We believe that the proclaimed Word of God (preaching) is just as important as the written Word of God (Scripture). We expect our preachers to bring a message that points to Christ Jesus and the true life He gives.

We follow the Revised Common Lectionary. We believe that by following this 3 year cycle of Scripture, we maintain unity with the larger Church around the world and prevent our preachers from getting stuck in a rut of preaching the same thing.

Music

Music is a vital part of our communal worship.

Our primary hymnal, the Evangelical Lutheran Worship (ELW), contains many dearly loved classic hymns, hymns from other parts of the world, spirituals, and some modern songs.

We utilize a variety of instruments to assist the congregation with its singing, including guitar, hand drum, trumpet, flute and handbell. Our primary instruments are our historic pipe organ and our grand piano.
